IMPRESSIVE: A big scam: FAKE IEEE JOURNALS. Not all the IEEE journals are good; there are also IEEE fake Transactions published by IEEE itself

An unbelievably big number of issues of IEEE Transactions host IEEE Conference
Proceedings as they are. These "papers" are not extended papers of some papers published in an IEEE Conference. They are the papers of the conference.

They are the plain conference proceedings wrapped as IEEE Journals.
This is the biggest IEEE scandal of all epochs

In some other cases, we have found many IEEE journal publications, masquerading as conference proceedings, jamborees, and suchlike, but they are publications, and they do overlap with other publications to the extent that many should be retracted.

It seems that in that world you can get 2-for-1 publications. Just pay the fee!

Copy and past any of the publication codes individually below into the journal box in this site:

Set the "which" box to "both".

Press the "search" button.

Each time you will generate a list of highly overlapping publications.

If you write to IEEE it is a wild-goose chase and they do nothing.

In some cases, IEEE stops the conferences at the end of the 1st day. The IEEE conference organizers do not want to spend money for the Hotel Services

We have just received this comment in many places of our forum from some Professor Chang.
We think that this serious report does not abstain very much from the truth.

"I have been in an IEEE Conference in Shanghai (China). The conference fees were 400 USD. I received a USB memory stick as conference proceedings and a small book of Abstracts. The Proceedings were mediocre. I had two papers accepted without review. This was not a surprize because I know that all the IEEE (junk) conferences, especially in Asia, are without essential review. The very big bad surprize, however, was that the IEEE organizers closed the conference at the end of the first day!!!!

They told me that the 2nd and 3rd day are dedicated to excursions (??!!)
I had the "bad luck" to arrive in the Hotel early in the morning of the 2nd day. I met the organizers and they told me that "in an attempt to minimize the cost (conference rooms rentals, coffee-break, lunches, banquet etc...)", they have hired the Hotel services only for one day. With much sarcasm, they asked me: "Hey! You received IEEE conference proceedings and two publications with IEEE name for your CV, plus publication in IEEExplore data base. Aren't they enough for you for the 400+200 USD that you paid (200 USD was for my second paper).
So, this IEEE conference had in the title of the Proceedings three days, but it was only one day, becuse they did not want to pay the conference rooms, coffee-breaks, possible lunches, hours for the secretariat ladies, dinner(s) for the second and third day.

I did not find any SCIgen paper in this memory stick, but I am sure that this was eventual. In many IEEE fake, junk, conferences (yes, I consider the conference that I participated as fake and bogus, because they closed the Hotel in the 2nd and 3rd day), the memory sticks or the CDs do contain SCIgen fake papers, really.

Yes, the numerous IEEE conference proceedings contain SCIgen fake papers. They produce junk proceedings.
I was so mad with this situation of this junk conference in Shangai. I threated them and I promised to send an email to IEEE. I did send email to IEEE. The worse thing is that the IEEE gave them again the authorization to run 6 (SIX) IEEE conferences in 2012 in China. Of course, they will be fake, bogus, scam conferences.
So, IEEE is aware of this situation but IEEE closes its eyes. You understand the reason.
Money, money, money (part of the conference fees) are so strong that can unlock every door and the door of IEEE is always open like a BROTHEL' door".

The evinced that the IEEE MED Conferences is a pure SCAM.

Fake IEEE MED conferences
We received the following report for one more site that offers Fake (Bogus/Junk) IEEE Conferences. The report for these fake conferences appeared today in:
and is as follows

Fake IEEE MED conferences:
These conferences are organized by the "Mediterranean Control Association"
However, this "Association" is a Company based in USA by a Greek Professor.
We sent them two papers describing the equipment of our laboratory.
We copied the manual of Inverted Pendulum and we got the acceptance letter after
some days. So, for sure include in your fake conferences list the
Fake IEEE MED conferences

Unfortunately, our commentor was right.
We checked it and we found that this "Mediterranean Control Association" is a company registered in United States of America
Check it yourself:
and not in Mediterranean as they claim.
After sending emails to several previous participants, we got a reply:

I have sent them papers twice. They had been accepted without any modification and without any review comments. Our registration fees were sent to the company MCA in USA and not to any non-profit club in some Mediterranean Country. At that time, we did not wonder why. The conference services were poor in both times and most of the sessions were empty or completely cancelled.

However, the beaches and the swimming pools were full of "IEEE MED" delegates.

Maybe, controlists are inspired in their pioneer ideas in the sea or in the swimming pool, especially if they are any (semi-)naked women around.

We have also noticed that they called their conferences as "IEEE Conferences" in the previous years, while they were only technically co-sponsored by IEEE.

This year, 2012, they follow lower profile. So, they do not call their Conference "20th IEEE Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation"
but only "20th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation".

We have heard that they had serious problems with IEEE Head Quarters, most probably because their conferences had published several junk papers.

Interesting! isn't it?

A German Professor(-she) reported in her blog that the IEEE conferences are without any review. This is another strong evidence of fake IEEE events.

A German Professor(-she) reported in her blog that the IEEE conferences are without any review. This is another strong evidence that the majority (>95%) of the IEEE Conferences are Fake collecting even junk articles, SCIgen Publication.

" I have had multiple correspondence with different persons who absolutely wish to remain anonymous that they have submitted to IEEE conferences, had no review but were accepted, attended the conference (often with own money involved) and then had very few people attend their session - or any session other than the plenary session announcing where the conference dinner was to be held or some such. "

We received this by email. It seems to be correct

All the SIAM Conferences are FAKE

All of them are based on "reviews" (if any) on ... Abstracts
SIAM Conferences are absolutely Junk and Bogus. Check them, yourself. We sent them SCIgen Abstracts and they accepted along with
information of how to pay the registration fees. This is important for SIAM Conferences: MONEY
SIAM is the worst Academic Criminal Company and I wonder why the blogs have not discovered them so far.

Intimidation attempts prove that WORLDCOMP is a scam

We have been unable to find any “John Brown” associated with Worldcomp. Worldcomp seems to consist of some 22 separate sessions (or conferences) with around 100 – 150 papers per conference. This would suggest some $1 to 1.5 million being collected each year by the organisers from the authors. Actual costs are probably minimal.
6th March: It would seem that the University of Georgia is not amused. The Worldcomp 2012 website now carries a specific disclaimer (8th March The position of the disclaimer has been shifted down to become much less prominent – it is only visible when scrolling down) on Professor Hamid Arabnia’s contact page stating that

“the congress is neither sponsored by nor affiliated with University of Georgia”
But of course Worldcomp remains – perhaps unwittingly – partly legitimised by virtue of Arabnia’s employment as “Professor” at the University of Georgia.

We received a long protesting email today from a certain Dr. John Brown (sent twice) which is posted in full in the comments. He claims “copyright” on his email which itself is a little odd — ktwop

Worldcomp seems to be a “fake” conference which makes a lot of money for its organisers by preying on students and researchers (and unscrupulous supervisors of research) who are desperate to get published – even if only in the Proceedings of this fake conference. It seems that no review – apart from copy-editing – is done. Payment of registration fees is sufficient for publication. While a venue (Las Vegas) exists and the minimum necessary is done to show that the conference was held, there seem to be few sessions and even fewer presentations. All the participants get a conference dinner but are generally left to find their own amusement (which is not difficult to do in Las Vegas)!!

Professor Hamid Arabnia must hold some kind of record in the number of fake(?) conferences he organises (always in Las Vegas it seems).

Another email reported these:
I was a Ph.D. student in Asia few years back. My university requirement was that I (the student) should publish two papers in order to submit the synopsis and thesis (dissertation). One of my friends informed me that WORLDCOMP gives guaranteed acceptance and he also recently got his Ph.D. by publishing in WORLDCOMP. ….

I enjoyed the casinos in Las Vegas. I liked the conference banquet (dinner). Although I was at the venue, I didn’t present my paper in WORLDCOMP because there was no one to invite me in my session and there was no one to listen to my speech also. I noticed that few other sessions were barely running with few attendees. It looks many attendees came there just to see Las Vegas. However, I received a presentation certificate from Professor Hamid Arabnia ……

I met more than ten people from my country and nearby countries and we instantly became friends and we really enjoyed watching Las Vegas. When I enquired individually, all these friends informed me that their papers were also accepted without modifications in WORLDCOMP. They were feeling proud because they were thinking that their research was great (and that’s why the papers were accepted without modifications). But now I understand the bitter truth behind this: there was no review in WORLDCOMP.

Hamid Arabnia image from
Resorting to intimidation is proof positive for me that WORLDCOMP is nothing more than a fake conference. Hamid Arabnia seems to be anexpert at using fake conferences (about 28 of them) to generate his income. He is a Professor at the Universty of Georgia. His CV is quite amazing and he does seem to have spent a lot of time in Las Vegas.

But squeezing registration fees out of Asian students is probably a much more lucrative and less risky pastime than other activities in Las Vegas.
