Yesterday, we got an email from a new organization titled WSEAS. What is the WSEAS? Are their conferences good or bad. Please, tell us.
" I was in the Secretariat Desk of the WSEAS Conference (December 2009, in Tenerife) andI saw the catalogue of the conference participants. It was amazing the high rejection rate of the papers. I estimate that for every 10 papers, 4 were accepted and 6 were rejected. That means that the WSEAS Conferences are very prestigious"Many ThanksProf. Dr. Shahram JavadiPhone Number: 00989123139881FAX Number: 00982122228397 "
This WSEAS email was from some lady Rena Politi, but I tried to understand who is he (or she). I could not find her at any University. Is he (she) a secretariat? How can he organizes all these WSEAS conferences???
I have also received an invitation from WSEAS. They have many conferences. It seems that this is a really good organization. They have scientific committees. On the other hand many important scholars (like Zadeh, Sifakis) have publihed their papers in WSEAS. I will attend their conference in Saint Malo, France and I will port my impressions here.
The WSEAS Conferences are really very prestigious and honest. They use to send the submitted papers in 5 different reviewers. So, in their conferences you can receive good remarks from the referees. Ulike IEEE, WSEAS is very careful and does not give "sponsorship" to "unknown" people. These guys in WSEAS have built a good academic brand name.
Unlike IEEE that gives sponsorship to everybody, WSEAS is very careful and does not give sponsorship to "unknown" people. The WSEAS conferences are good indeed and they have NEVER published any garbage like the numerous fake IEEE Conferences.Of course, IEEE has lost the control of its conferences
The problem with the "IEEE Conferences" is that they have accepted numerous SCIgen fake papers. Because the IEEE Conferences are not organized by IEEE but by independent university units, IEEE loses the quality control.http://iaria-highsci.blogspot.com/http://www.qualityofconferences.com/http://anti-ieee.blogspot.com/http://junkconferences.blogspot.com/and many othershttp://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/fake-ieee-projects-yamee-clusterorg-tamil-nadu-c665090.html
http://ieee-bogus.blogspot.com/The fake conferences is a typical rule of IEEEOne more example is the http://www.icmtconf.org/2012/They claim that they have:"Review duration: 15-20 days after submission"Check it http://www.icmtconf.org/2012/How can a serious conference with hundred of papers to make review of all these papers within 15 days? Our conclusion that seems to be the standard for the majority of IEEE is:====================The IEEE conferences do not have any review. They work only for moneyGoogle: IEEE fake papersor IEEE Junk Conferences or IEEE bogus or IEEE scamYou might visit immediately these sites (and several others)http://www.anti-plagiarism.org/http://diehimmelistschoen.blogspot.com/ http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/fake-ieee-projects-yamee-clusterorg-tamil-nadu-c665090.htmlhttp://netdriver.blogspot.com/http://blog.lib.umn.edu/denis036/thisweekinevolution/2011/07/would_ieee_really_sponsor_a_fa.html http://www.qualityofconferences.com/ http://iaria-highsci.blogspot.com/ http://www.ourglocal.com/event/?eventid=5820 http://www.astronomyforum.net/uk-astronomy-forum/95363-fake-conference-fake-conference-fake-conference-again.html http://www.jjj.de/fake-conf.html
WSEAS Conferences are smaller, but they have never published crappy papers and they have never accepted fake papers. I was in the WSEAS Conference in Corfu, Greece this summer. The conference was perfect and high-quality.
The WSEAS conferences are pretty good. Unlike the un-controlled IEEE conferences, the WSEAS events have a strict peer review process. Unlike the IEEE fake conferences, WSEAS has never accepted and never published crappy papers, fake papers etc....Try to send a paper to WSEAS and you will take essential reviewer comments. (Not like IEEE that they say you change the fonts and add 2 other references)
I agree with you. Additionally, all the papers in WSEAS Conferences are physically presented. The WSEAS guys use to threat us that they will not publish our paper in case of non-show up. So, if you see in a WSEAS program a session with 5 papers, then you will see 5 presentations. If they have a session with 3 papers, 3 presentations and so on.
I know that all the WSEAS Conferences are indexed by ISI, IET, SCOPUS, EI, Compendex, Engineering Village, ACM and many others. However, the IEEE Conferences are published only in CD and are not indexed by ISI, IET, SCOPUS, EI, Compendex, Engineering Village, ACM.WSEAS is my beloved society and I support them with my 2 Plenary Lectures per year
WSEAS Conferences and WSEAS Journals are really very good. You can see the quality of WSEAS Journals here http://www.worldses.org/journals/index.htmlWSEAS has a strict review procedure and it is very difficult to have a paper accepted in WSEAS Conferences and WSEAS Journals
I respect the WSEAS. I was three times Plenary Speaker and the quality was excellent. Sincerely, Lotfi Zadeh -- Lotfi A. I agree with Lotfi. The WSEAS conferences are of quite good quality. I am proud that I was Plenary Speaker. Regards,Hojjat AdeliAbba G. It is a pleasure to say that ,in my opinion , WSEAS Conferences are organized on a high professional level ( Quality of papers, presentations, seeession chairing). As for the WSEAS Journal Papers, I think that they reflect considerable progress that have been achieved in the field. The contributions provide inspiration to researchers and developers giving a solid perspective for the analysis of current and future models and approaches in the area. The publishing procedure is with very high rejection rate. For example, only one negative of the three or more positive opinions in the reviewing process means rejection automatically. The difficulty to publish a paper in WSEAS Transactions is high. Finally the published papers in WSEAS Transactions are free bof charge.
I do not know how and why, but the leading scholars of my area attend the WSEAS CSCC Conference every year. So, I love participating in WSEAS CSCC which is the perfect congress.See for example http://www.wseas.org/conferences/2008/greece/
All the WSEAS conferences are important. I was in the WSEAS Conference in Florence, August 2011. The 3 conference rooms were full of people. The accepted papers were of high quality. All the Plenary Speakers shown up and presented excellent Plenary Speeches. I took also 2 pages "hard review" for my paper. So, WSEAS events are really prestigious
WSEAS Conferences are excellent and very strict to pass a paper. I sent them 3 papers in the WSEAS Conference in their conference at University of Cambridge and only 1 of them was accepted with substantial review.
I am posting it again correcting some typing errors:WSEAS Conferences are excellent and very strict to pass a paper. I sent them 3 papers in the WSEAS Conference at University of Cambridge and only 1 of them was accepted with substantial review. Additionally, I attend conferences in Fuzzy Logic if Lotfi Zadeh is Plenary Speaker and this happens in many WSEAS Conferences related to fuzzy logic.3 January 2012 05:05
I was in the WSEAS Multiconference in Harvard University last week. The Sessions were full of attendees. The atmosphere was excellent and all the accepted papers had very high quality. I visited the registration desk and I found the list of rejected papers. It seems to me that the rejected papers were more than the accepted and this is an additional evidence of the honesty and prestige of WSEAS Conferences
I realize this is an old post but it seems to be among the first Google results so I thought I'd share some of my experience. In short: I have worked in academia until about 8 months ago, eventually decided it simply wasn't for me and quit. I do not intend to pursue an academic career so I guess I can be fairly objective. I also don't have much experience in academia (it's only been about two years), so I might not be entirely spot on; I'll just try to describe what I've seen. If you folks need it, I can provide some verification data about the papers I've published so that you can ensure I'm not posting bogus stuff. In short:- One of the professors I worked with on a side-project had some papers published at IEEE conferences. They actually take place -- as in people actually gather and hold their presentations.- The overall quality of the material is laughable at best. The paper we published included absolutely no experimental or simulation data; in short, there was no proof that our approach was valid. Given my position, I couldn't just tell my professor to take my name out of that crap -- all I could do was drop one of my names from it (my parents blessed me with two besides my family name) and list another e-mail address, so that it wouldn't get indexed as such.- There seems to be an entire network of research activity around IEEE; and again, its quality is deplorable. Some of the people involved are actually of good quality and at least try to hold some decent standards. Most of them are simply incredibly incompetent and the money getting shoved into them is utterly wasted.- There is no reviewing process. Simple as that. The paper we submitted was full of editing and grammar mistakes because the two main contributors didn't speak English too well. It claimed things for which it offered no proof and basically brought nothing new. If I had reviewed it, I'd have rejected it without much consideration.- People also help each other; my professor actually told me that some of the people simply agree to publish each others' work in the conferences they chair in exchange for a place on the author list. This probably explains the incredible productivity of some of the people involved with IEEE.
I am glad to find that the Proceedings of the WSEAS Conferences where YOU have contributed with papers are in ISI Web of Science database.I have the pleasant experience of the conferences of Malta 2010 and Corfu 2011 and I will gladly return anytime to the conferences organized by you when I will find in ISI Web of Science database the volumes in which are my papers. With the hope that this will sometime happens, I wish you all the best.Dan Savastru
The WSEAS publications participate in ISI, SCOPUS, Engineering Village, ACM, etc..., so this organization (WSEAS) has nothing to fear from the various rogue blogs and stupid stories over the web that blame every serious organization as WSEAS. I have now 15 papers in ISI thanks to WSEAS. I love WSEAS and I will support them for ever.
WSEAS TRANSACTIONS: Only novel papers can be considered for publication. All contributions should be well written, completed studies, in correct English and WSEAS format. WSEAS Journals have been entirely independent of WSEAS Conferences since the end of 2006. Authors can upload their papers to WSEAS Transactions regardless of whether they have attended a WSEAS conference or not. In addition, WSEAS Transactions are the only open access journals where all papers are permanently accessible to everyone where the Authors do not pay any kind of publication fees. WSEAS Journals are available online and also on hard-copy for our subscribers, libraries and indexes. The Editors-in-Chief, assisted by the members of the Editorial Boards, are the sole decision makers for the acceptance or not of the papers. We need only papers that will attract the attention of other scholars citing them and increasing the impact factor of the journals.
I have seen in this web page https://picasaweb.google.com/110742000911948255375/VouliagmeniAthensGreeceMarch792012#5720486200613007346Professor Mastorakis singing during a banquet in a WSEAS Conference in Greece. Can a serious Professor sing in the Banquet of its WSEAS conference?
This is ridiculous! Why does he sing in his conferences' banquets? Is he a professional singer?
Epstein,I do not know if N Mastorakis sings in the Banquet of the WSEAS Conferences or not. What I know is that this guy N Mastorakis has an impressive profile in scholar.google.comN Mastorakisand maybe you envy, you are jealous for that.He also coordinates a Society (WSEAS) with Conference Proceedings in ISI, ACM, SCOPUS, IET, EI Compendex etc etcMaybe, Michael Epstein you belong to the category of Internet Trolls that write stupidities day and night for various conferences.Improve yourself, man.
I have attended the International Conferences in Vouliagmeni, Athens on March, 2012 (which, by the way, were organised by WSEAS) and I have marvellous memories from the scientific sessions and from the Banquet, as well. I read your comment and I am amazed, since I cannot understand the spring of this evilness. Yes, Professor Nikos Mastorakis did sing in the banquet, and this was a wonderful moment! He is singing very well, but this is not the most important thing. We were impressed by the warm consideration for the participants in these conferences, only a sensitive and generous human could act like this, trying the best in creating a warm atmosphere in a banquet related to an scientific meeting. We are humans, not robots, and the meaning of these conferences is to bring together the scholars worldwide, in order to share the results of the research and to establish further collaboration. What is it wrong in feeling wonderful in a such meeting?! I am deeply grateful Professor Mastorakis for singing in the banquet!!!! But I will never understand your malicious lines!!!
lmost all the IEEE Conferences are WITHOUT review. So, the IEEE Conferences are bogus conferences. It is good that by googling: IEEE Bogus, I found your blog.I do not know about WSEAS anything, but I have a personal experience about a bogus IEEE event.I have also posted in several other blogs that deal with IEEE bogus conferences.I live in Mexico. and I have had this experience for Bogus IEEE (we call then in Mexico Conferencias falsos IEEE)It is enough for the organizers to ensure the Co-sponsorship of IEEE and then it is enough to start advertisements by email or in the local scientific magazines of their country that they are authorized to run an "IEEE" conference (or "IEEE" multiconference). They print out great advertizing posters with a very big picture of IEEE logo. Sometimes they make several phone calls. They know that the personal phone calls are better than the Email Spam. I was called by a colleague last December to participate in his IEEE conference. I told him that I am not an expert in the field of this conference, but he insisted that I am inside the scopes of the meeting. I sent them 5 papers. All of them passed without review. When I asked them why I did not took any review, he told me "your papers were really excellent". I do not say that my papers were bad, but at least, I wanted to have some opinions, some comments, some ideas. I was waiting for them, but nothing. Finally, we made some negotations with registration fees. With 5 accepted papers I had to pay 2000 Dollars. Fortunately, my "good" colleague made a generous discount for me and I paid only 1500 Dollars providing that I would say good comments and positive opinion for his IEEE conference to my friends. I did it. However, I am writing you now the truth for this bogus IEEE conference.http://social-work-mexico.blogspot.com/
I have been in an IEEE Conference in Shanghai (China). The conference fees were 400 USD. I received a USB memory stick as conference proceedings and a small book of Abstracts. The Proceedings were mediocre. I had two papers accepted without review. This was not a surprize because I know that all the IEEE (junk) conferences, especially in Asia, are without essential review. The very big bad surprize, however, was that the IEEE organizers closed the conference at the end of the first day!!!!They told me that the 2nd and 3rd day are dedicated to excursions (??!!)I had the "bad luck" to arrive in the Hotel early in the morning of the 2nd day. I met the organizers and they told me that "in an attempt to minimize the cost (conference rooms rentals, coffee-break, lunches, banquet etc...)", they have hired the Hotel services only for one day. With much sarcasm, they asked me: "Hey! You received IEEE conference proceedings and two publications with IEEE name for your CV, plus publication in IEEExplore data base. Aren't they enough for you for the 400+200 USD that you paid (200 USD was for my second paper). So, this IEEE conference had in the title of the Proceedings three days, but it was only one day, becuse they did not want to pay the conference rooms, coffee-breaks, possible lunches, hours for the secretariat ladies, dinner(s) for the second and third day.I did not find any SCIgen paper in this memory stick, but I am sure that this was eventual. In many IEEE fake, junk, conferences (yes, I consider the conference that I participated as fake and bogus, because they closed the Hotel in the 2nd and 3rd day), the memory sticks or the CDs do contain SCIgen fake papers, really.Yes, the numerous IEEE conference proceedings contain SCIgen fake papers. They produce junk proceedings.I was so mad with this situation of this junk conference in Shangai. I threated them and I promised to send an email to IEEE. I did send email to IEEE. The worse thing is that the IEEE gave them again the authorization to run 6 (SIX) IEEE conferences in 2012 in China. Of course, they will be fake, bogus, scam conferences. So, IEEE is aware of this situation but IEEE closes its eyes. You understand the reason.Money, money, money (part of the conference fees) are so strong that can unlock every door and the door of IEEE is always open like a BROTHEL' door
Sometimes blogs are not reliable, but here IEEE people confess that 1100 conferences of IEEE were bogusIEEE has already removed 1100 conference proceedings (> 500000 suspicius papers) from IEEEXplore electronic data base.http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/author_form.htmlIEEE revealed to all academic community that 1100 conference proceedings were deleted from IEEEXplore data base. I wonder if these organizers of these 1100 conferences would make any lawsuits against the dirty IEEE.
I have received this email from the WSEAS and I believe that they are right--------------------------------WSEAS: Check the appropriate journal or appropriate conference for youhttp://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&view_op=search_venues&vq= For example in the following fields: Information Science, Circuits and Systems, Systems and Control, Data Bases, Knowledge Engineering, Artificial intelligence, Acoustics, Music the WSEAS journals and conferences are inside the top 20 worldwide.Put in the slot of the following google tool: http://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&view_op=search_venues&vq= the following keywordsCircuits and Systems,Systems and Control,Data Bases,Knowledge Engineering,Artificial intelligence,Acoustics,Music For example if you put in the slot of the following google tool:Information Science http://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&view_op=search_venues&vq= you will see that WSEAS Transactions on Information Science is in the 15th position, with only one IEEE to be in a higher ranking!!!Thanks
My name is Issam Abdul Rahman MoghrabiI am referee for several journals and specialized conferences (such as Computers and Applied Math, WSEAS, IASTED..). So, I can confirm that WSEAS and IASTED conferences are very good and very reliable. WSEAS is better in the organizational past. IASTED is older and prestigious.WSEAS is newer and prestigious also. WSEAS has now more conferences than IASTED. So, WSEAS and IASTED conferences are really prestigous.
Lisbon, Portugal, Dec.10, 2012Dear Colleagues,I had been in a 3-days ACM (fake) Conference in Madrid. The opening of the conference was really impressive but imagine what happened in the second and third day: They closed the conference, because they have paid the hotel only for the first day. When I protested, professors of ACM told me "enough" You have your paper in a prestigious publisher, you made public relations in the first day, what else do you want? I was treated by the ACM organizers as a foreigner though I had pay 650 EUR registration fees. I have found on the web similar incidents for an IEEE conference in Singapore. So, this ACM conference was theoretically for 3 days, but practically it was only 1 day.Yours SincerelyW.M.
